“This was a shocking and unprecedented intervention in a low-level review. It was also a reminder that the president has very little understanding of what it means to be in the military,” Recently fired Navy secretary hits back at @realdonaldtrumphttps://washex.am/35DN49h

Retired Sec Navy should have paid attention at Marine Corps Officer Bacis School regarding his place in the chain-of-command. He reports directly to Sec Def and shouldn’t go sniveling to the Commander-in-Chief.

It's been well over 51 years, since I went through Marine Corps Boot Camp at MCRD in 1968,and I am still aware of the Chain of Command, and that the POTUS is the Head Honcho. If the SecNavy was unhappy, the Honorable thing to do was for him to resign.

SecNav does not understand chain of command. The foundation of the military.

Yes the SecNav does seem to be lacking in knowledge of, the chain of command, or just flat out refuses to follow orders from the Commander in Chief. As a former enlisted Marine, 1968/69, I still remember who the supreme commander is after 51 years, it's the POTUS.

I've got 2 active duty Navy sons, and I know, if they could say, they would agree with me... Spencer and his opinions can F*** OFF! The rank and file love what the President did, and think that most of the Pentagon brass are nothing but a bunch of politicians in uniform!

Yeah, but Trump knows when somebody isn't being treated fairly and can easily identify with such a person. He's had some experience with that the past 3 years.

Apparently he has very little idea what an order is from the Commander of the entire military.

False equivalence. Attempts to equate experience with knowledge. Also, the issue here is his insertion into the mechanics of how the military and its civilian oversight operates, which doesn't necessarily require said experience.
