The common misconception is that this is bad, but these are all indicators of a successful society. Third World societies tend to have high birth rates and high levels of religiousity, which decrease with wealth, health, & education - all good things.

It's been replaced by nationalism(at least on the right), faith in socialism/govt(at least on the left), and instead of children, many froth after an extravagant number of "life experiences." Impulses for patriotism, divinity, & offspring don't vanish, they are merely transformed

Honestly, the US can use a decline in patriotism towards healthier levels that don't come with the "There is nothing to improve here"-delusion. No patriotism is bad, but rose colored glasses hide some colors when people view their country. I'd call all of it fantastic.
