It is hard to increase revenue when almost half of the population does not pay federal income tax. It is impossible to govern justly when those who do not pay any federal income tax still get to vote equally with those who do pay.

Just wanted to chime in that paying federal income tax is not something that is restricted to one income type. Plenty of high income households pay no federal income tax thanks to tax rules.

What's the percentage of individuals who pay enough taxes to be considered positive financial participants to their community? I seem to recall a number that came out a few years back. It wasn't good.

Yeah, we all get taxes taken out, and some is returned at the end of the year. But that money, Billions and billions of dollars, that is returned to people who 'don't pay any taxes' is still used by the gov't. People who DONT have $ taken out (under the table) are the problem.
