Leftists quoting the Bible never ends well for them. The candidate, and the staffer that googled that verse, should probably spend some quality time with the rest of Proverbs as well as the other 65 books.

There are quite a few commands for communities to care for the poor and the stranger in the other books too!

Aren't the Dems the ones who always talk about the separation of church and state? They only use religion i.e. Christianity when they think it benefits them...

Great point!

So cool. We’re all gonna share our favorite Proverbs? Here is mine... Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Or you will also be like him. Answer a fool as his folly deserves, That he not be wise in his own eyes. — Proverbs 26:4-5

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” - Chronicles 7:14

This verse is directed to individuals to give out of their hearts. Not so people would need to give everything they have to the government to distribute to other people.

Deuteronomy 15:11 says there will always be poor among us. Wiping out the poor would violate God’s Plan of Salvation. We gain mercies by caring for the poor not eliminating them.

Then wouldn’t it stand to reason that even if we raise the minimum wage, we will still have poor with us? (Think, vets too traumatized & disabled to work; single moms with underdeveloped job skills who can’t afford childcare; etc.)
