Grew up in a home where we weren't taught to speak Spanish. Parents wanted us to focus on the language of this country, English. Primarily, because it would pay off with our careers. Neither my parents nor myself and siblings felt "internalized oppressed." He's full of it.

I had a friend in high school whose parent's were from Oklahoma and wanted to make sure that their daighter and son spoke with a Northern accent, so that they wouldn't be held back by stereotypes. Obama can turn on and off a southern black accent at will

His mother is an activist in my city, a majority Hispanic city. If he doesn't speak Spanish it's because he didn't want to learn it.
