The craftsmen on the job said they ran NO electrical power, did not use hot equipment of any kind, welding, etc. to AVOID any chance of starting a fire in the precious woodwork of the spire. Electrical short with no electricity? Fire started 30 minutes after crews had left.

Its looking more and more suspect with each report. Even on timber a spark is not enough to set it alight. You'd need something easily caught like wood chips and some form of propellant. Timber roofing and flooring won't just catch from a short.
