It wasn't the Norwegians but the Dutch that brought Sinterklaas with them. Sinterklaas is a Dutch word and still celebrated in the Netherlands and also in Germany, Belgium, Scandinavia, well most Germanic countries on the 5th (or 6th, that depends per country) of December
