I think the change is that fewer Democrats have a positive view of “capitalism” than before, because it is not viewed as an abstract term but rather “capitalism as practiced in the US today”, which is crony capitalism where corps invest in politicians to extract tax cuts.

Meanwhile, “socialism” is not viewed as the failures of the past, but means something like Bernie’s platform of single-payer healthcare and raising the minimum wage. In other words, if you base a poll on blanket terms, beware over-interpretations.
