Starting with tomorrow's release, it'll correctly sum the channels instead of mixing to mono. Why did I do it that way in the first place? Well that's a great question I have no idea. Hopefully I won't find out. But it's fixed now.

Fun Recut bug! The app merges stereo audio to mono before applying silence detection and drawing the waveform. This works great most of the time. And then sometimes, a file has channels that are out of phase. And then the waveform is a flat line –––

You know how everyone says don't rewrite your site in a new framework? Ok but hear me out: what about rewriting it TWICE

Y'all I didn't realize the native HTML date picker had gotten so good! Is there a reason to use one of the complicated JS libraries instead of this? The only things I can think of are ranges and custom styling. Anything else?

I see a bunch of content on how to get sponsored as a YouTuber, even with a small channel, which is awesome. Has anyone seen any advice for the other side? I'd like to sponsor some creator-focused channels in 2023.

A couple of my fave CLI tools 🤗 What are your must-haves?

z – a CLI tool that remembers directories you’ve visited and makes it very fast to cd around atuin – another CLI tool that’s like Ctrl+R mixed with a SQLite database and fzf. Great for quickly recalling commands, even from months ago. (lol ffmpeg)

Excited to finally launch this new feature: Rails applications built with Bullet Train now support Zapier out-of-the-box! As soon as you start a new project, you can run `zapier register` and `zapier deploy` and example triggers and actions will appear in your Zapier account! ⚡️

I’ve had this experience with almost all my products! “I tried other React courses and then I bought yours” “I tried another silence remover tool but it was hard to use” The creator/indie space is not the zero-sum game we might assume it is. People hop around!

The creator economy is SUPER different. You don't compete with one another. You win together. H/t @arvidkahl This is proof:

Ok so Mastodon: you click on someone's link it brings you to their profile ...on their instance where you're not logged in so you can't like/follow/do anything then you have to fiddle with the URL to find them on your own instance There must be an easier way?

I learned from a combo of books and playing around trying to make things. QBasic for Dummies was the first 😂 I honestly still love learning from books. Reading the text, typing in the examples, changing things to test my understanding, and then going off-path.

how do people learn to code without the internet? like what tools do you use? or do u just read books about programming? genuinely curious
Feels like ChatGPT is going to be a superpower for coding. It's amazing at writing simple examples that get to the core of what you want to do. Like a personal StackOverflow, except your question won't get closed as duplicate.

Does it look right? no But is it a useless black rectangle? also no 🎉 Finally got hardware decoding + rendering working(ish)

ChatGPT makes for an amazing rubber duck. I asked it why my OpenGL thing wasn’t rendering. It had a few ideas: one I’d been stuck at and had fixed, and another that gave me a clue where to look. I got it working and now instead of nothing I have a green rectangle. So happy.

> How would you write some libav code that scrubs through a video, visiting each keyframe? It even compiles and works! 🤯

Feeling thankful and at least like 90% sure I'm past this stage of my Rust journey.

I feel like the Rust compiler saves up the worst errors for last. “Typo!” thanks np ✨ “Put a & there” Got it ⚡️ “That thing is mut, write ‘mut’ plz” k cool ✅ “You can’t move that into there. Please rearchitect entire program”😭

Sometimes it feels like I need to write big, useful, topical articles, and so I write nothing. I've only written 5 this year. One of them only got 769 views in 8 whole months. But it helped 3 people so much that they sent me DMs to tell me 💖

Just saw an email from Josh that this sale ends in a few hours. This course is SUPERB and well worth it at full price – and at half off, a steal 😅 I bought this with my own dollars when it came out and it’s full of so much goodness.
