    Yes, exactly. Some CT measures backfire, but in general more intel, more effort, etc. helps -- but resources are fine, and there are tradeoffs. Part of what and I were trying to do was help bound the debate to help think about this challenge.

    Seems to me the overarching issue is what risk to accept. 's recommendations would⬇️risk of a future terrorist attack, but likely⬆️risk of negative outcomes IRT other threats like & . Following 's recs does the opposite. Not an easy choice. 2/2

    I heard on the radio some NY legislators were suggesting bringing back the death penalty because of this. Whether one is pro-DPy or anti-DPy, it would seem rash to change a serious & wide-reaching policy based on one incident.

    That’s part of the insanity of the Texas law. It’s like a litigation DDOS attack. Platforms can be forced to litigate the same question repeatedly in different courts, even if they win in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd… nth cases. New ones can just keep coming.

    think all the parties still think it is in their interests. the pros are better than the status quo, and the cons of not reviving it get worse than the status quo. but after it has been sitting inert close to the finish line for a couple months, renewed push to get it across.

    It’s not dead until it’s buried. Iran nuke deal seems to have received some mouth to mouth resuscitation from the EU.
