.@seanhannity -
I invite you to come out from behind the safety of your cable news desk and join me at a neutral forum to debate the role of the media—Left and Right—in dividing us.
Honest conversation isn’t where the quick-hit $ and ratings are — but it’d be good for America.https://twitter.com/BenSasse/status/1052360380100616192 …

I think you’re proving Ben’s point, Dan.
-
I think you are totally missing the point Mark. You are trying to make a nonsensical equivalence argument.

Remember that the GOP is the big tent party. Some people might not agree with the current Trump moment, but that doesn't mean we should disparage them. We need them and there will come a time when hanging together will be critical for the group's survival.

You’re proving his point, Dan. As I say to my three year-old, “I know you’re upset, but you need to calm down and use your words.”
-
He literally just used words. Not sure what you think you accomplished with that self perceived own.
-
Perhaps I should have been more specific - his big boy words. Rather than thoughtfully respond, he attacked. People like Sean and Dan HAVE played a role in stoking the flames of outrage and divide. I know it makes them angry to be confronted by that, but
@BenSasse is right. -
What has Sasse done besides whine about everything? He was barely visible during the Kavanaugh hearings while a man was accused of being a gang rapist. He ran on his supposed expertise in health care and has done absolutely nothing in regard to the issue. All he does is whine
-
I have my own issues with Sasse’s record (though I suspect they might differ a little from yours in some cases). I’m saying that on this topic, he’s correct, and I won’t fault him for calling out the absolute toxicity of our political discourse at the moment.
-
I just think it’s cheaper to complain about political toxicity while at the same time do nothing while the same toxicity you complain about happens quite literally in front you in a hearing and you sit on the sidelines and say nothing.
-
You have a point; one of my biggest issues with Sasse is that he often seems to wait to see where the wind blows before weighing in (or not). I still agree with his premise, though. We would all be better served if we thought less “us v. them” and more just “us.”
-
I don’t disagree but that’s never going to happen. It’s bad for sure but it’s amplified with social media. It’s always been pretty terrible. If you have a measurable, tangible solution then by all means. He thinks book tours and Morning Joe hits will solve everything.
