I'm looking for a new job this week! Nano ran out funding and closed down the entire office on short notice. Pretty bummed because I loved the project and people I was working with.

Any gig-worker app that cannot make the business model work while paying $15/hour (after expenses!), basic benefits, vacation time, and family leave should not exist. Running a modern-day serf economy behind a slick UI is disgraceful.

Bloomberg's $1 trillion infrastructure plan is focused on cities “The plan would make states distribute 100% of federal funding intended for cities directly to cities...rather than withholding or drawing upon those resources for alternative purposes.”

A friend said something crazy to me the other day: "You have 18 summers to enjoy with your kids. That's it." By the time your kids turn 18, you have spent 70%+ of the total time you will spend with them. After that, it's a wild card (they are busy, you are old).

I've often said most tech conferences could be held in Des Moines, Iowa considering how little time you spend outside of the venue — and lo, exists!

In 1990, Baby-Boomers, with a median age of 35, owned a third of America’s real estate by value. In 2019, a similarly sized cohort of Millennials owned just 4%.

Some older Portlanders who are comfortably housed because they won the home-purchase lottery are happy to claim that fourplex legalization is bad for affordability. Take it from this Portlander, 67, who's lived a different life: infill housing is a path to stability & diversity.
