Had UK published its own equivalent text we would know that, at last, UK had learned the lesson of Brexit Meeting process with process, detail with detail But no, more cod-history and cod-economics from the eternal A-level crash-crammers of this witless winging-it government

A tale of two texts Today is first working day after Brexit EU publishes 33 pages of guidelines for next stage of Brexit: Johnson makes a tub-tumping speech about free trade: In a year's time, which text will be more relevant?

He does not deserve to be treated as 'the other' (no one does). Especially when he has dedicated his life to serving the British public when they need help the most He is an amazing, caring, conscientious doctor. The UK is lucky to have him, & in my opinion, do not deserve him.

...and the public simply do not deserve to have a person like him look after them when they are at their worst. This is his home. He was born here. He speaks with a British accent (not that it should matter). The only thing that marks him as different to racists is his skin...

...and there is a national shortage of doctors willing to do the coal-face job. He continues to do it because he feels it is where he can do the most good with his skills and mindset for the British public. For the British public to racially abuse him is utterly deplorable...

Bernie's instinct is to nationalize every industry. Before we accept these nationalizations, we should demand a predetermined exit strategy in case it goes wrong.

This makes me think that the whole battle against 'hard Brexit' and for transition agreements was a political mistake. It was good for the country, but it allowed Brexiteers to get away with this disingenuous claim, ignoring the fact that not a single regulation has yet changed

This is a most peculiar and misleading point - we have only so far entered a transition period - we are still in all EU regulation, trade, services, tariff and quota schemes until the end of the year - none of this - as presumably you know - would be affected.

have seen people do crazy risky things like call in sick to their H1B job for half a year while trying to get on a visa that would let them start a company bc there was no other way. You can be a Cambridge grad trying to start a biotech company and be totally helpless

This applies even to immigrants from countries like Canada/Australia that have great relationships with the US. Plus if you’re trying to start a company it’s even harder because most visas are employment-based and there are literally ~2 options for founders

I feel like a lot of US citizens don’t quite get how hard it is to get an immigrant visa even if you are super qualified—many friends/family have struggled w the H1-B lottery or spent months applying for an O1 or got denied entry even though they have MIT degrees/great jobs/etc
