I’ve had cyclical vomiting syndrome for years, and if there were more public toilets I’d have to vomit in the street a lot less.

I also hate codes on doors in coffeeshops for this reason, once violently throwing up in a Caffe Nero because I had no time to queue for the code, before having customers give me filthy/disgusted looks as I mopped it up.

If I have a tonic-clonic seizure in the street, everyone knows what it is, and is incredibly kind and understanding. If someone doesn’t get to a toilet in time with Crohns/Ulcerstive Colitis/IBD and other illnesses, public reaction will be markedly different.

I had colon cancer. I now have to be sure there is a toilet nearby. I spend a fortune buying coffee I don’t want, just so I can use the loo.

it's annoying and they should be anyway but if you ask the staff there's a good chance they'll let you use it, having worked there

Paid for toilets aren't a thing at all in the US, and most largish stores seem to have them - not just supermarkets but clothes shops. It was so useful, and must be so baffling to come to eg. Primark here and have no facilities at all.

It restricts so many lives. Women who menstruate, women with small children, elderly people, so many who cannot live a full life, we ALL all need easy access to clean and free public lavs as well as people with disabilities and conditions.
