Twitter hivemind, I want to display a per-page hit counter in my web app, pulling data from the Google Analytics API. It seems like it would be a common use-case, but I can't find instances of anyone else doing this. Are there drawbacks I'm not seeing?https://www.indiehackers.com/post/is-this-crazy-hit-counter-pulling-from-google-analytics-eae3cdc538 …
If a super hacky solution is acceptable One time 1 Behavior>Site Content>All Pages 2 Date range = 10 years 3 [SAVE] as "All views" report Then, regularly, manual or automated 4 Open "All views" report, download as CSV 5 Upload to server 6 Parse out routes -> pageviews count

Obviously, ongoing somewhat manual task but initial impl time goes down to like 2 hours, fewer moving parts, just works Also if you don't need super precise up to date numbers doing this weekly say is not that bad

Ah yeah, bonus point, works on static sites too. No backend required! Can just add this as a build step

Oh, this is neat! I like it as a low-cost way to test out what it will look like and see if it has any impact.

1. Google for “Google Analytics superProxy” 2. Open their “Query Explorer” 3. Authorize it to access you GA 4. Use the form to build your query 5. Copy the URL. 6. Run corn job on your backend to fetch data from URL in step 5. At desired cadence. 7. Embed and render on your page
