A few replies to this express valid concerns about who you're sharing the bus with. I can't fault people for choosing to drive when it's a matter of personal safety! But it's tragic that we've engineered, through poor public services, a hostile public.https://twitter.com/JTHMovement/status/1102750982126137344 …

Mistrust for your fellow human is a desirable social condition for those who would have us isolated and subject to the whim of the powerful. Car culture and suburban development enabled the dismantling of social programs that led to conditions driving people into cars for safety.

This specified there being no traffic. But thank you for soliciting a number of irrelevant tweets to clog up my mentions.
-
You're welcome! Even with no traffic you'll find people would even prefer to take a *gasp* bus too.

Me too, but that’s what audiobooks are for. Okay it gives me the added bonus of being able to ignore everyone around me

If by “reading a book” you mean “playing pokémon on my 3DS” then yes.

One of the things that makes "taking away the keys" so difficult is that it traps elders in their home. If you could say to an elder, teenager, or other non-driver "The bus will get you where you want to go", then non-driving wouldn't be a burden.

In the Netherlands public transport is either free or cheap for seniors, and is readily available for most. There is even small bus-taxis that will pick you up at home if needed. The country is a lot denser, true, but public transport is generally just well funded too.
