💥🔥🧨 I am beyond excited to announce that I will be writing AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, a book for , about the schools debacle in America during the pandemic. The book, in essence, will be a case study of how and why bad decisions are made THREAD 1/12

UK now allowing *one* dose to 16 & 17 year olds In contrast to US policy, which I wrote about here

A rare medical professional on TV emphasizing that Covid for healthy kids is akin to a cold or mild flu Also worth noting, the CDC estimates that up to half of infected kids will experience *zero* symptoms

I spoke with the hospital Correction: -most of the Covid patients were *not* healthy people in their 20s and 30s

Wow Despite incessant claims of schools driving this wave, and Delta disproportionately affecting children scaring parents... Kids age 2 - 11y now lowest estimated prevalence of all ages<35, despite being totally unvaccinated, no masks anywhere and full time school for 4 months

Takedown of CDC's (and by default, AAP's) total failure in school guidelines by 3 powerhouse doctors "follow the science" or "being safe" doesn't mean maximum NPI Screenshot quote is heartbreaking

Or, I should have written, other scientist who can explain the reasoning behind the difference

Have CDC or AAP explained why their recommendations for American children differ so dramatically from WHO, UK, and much of EU? If not, if any social scientists or psychologists have thoughts on their reasoning please DM me

It's fascinating that a mathematician has been one of our leading and most resonant thinkers on the ethics of various public health policies during the pandemic. Some university should compile his tweets over the past year, turn them into a thesis, and give him a PhD in bioethics

Comparing pediatric Covid v flu? It depends how the data is framed. CDC saying C19 is worse than flu in peds is just one frame. Timeframes, age, race, & factoring in that C19 vs flu hospitalizations are recorded differently, all yield different results, some with flu worse

Glad to be quoted here⁩: “In my opinion, we should not have mask mandates in schools, given that kids are at exceedingly low risk of complications from Covid-19, and more importantly the science simply isn’t there to support a mandate.” 👇👇

Has this ever been an effective policy strategy?

This seems surprising. If patient has peri/myocarditis from first dose of vaccine, after symptoms resolve go ahead and give a second dose?

And the number of *males* 12-24 with symptoms within 7 days of vax is 415. (300 out of 20M is wrong calculation.) I.e. it's a larger numerator, and smaller denominator

This seems to be misleading. 2.3% was based on universal screening. Symptomatic was 0.3%. It's not "young people," it's college athletes. Conversely, for vax, denominator is 15.4M age 12-24, not 20M. And divide by 2 for males is 7.7M. And 300 is only symptomatic in VAERS

As some have noted, this doesn't appear to be new or revised text. It is the current recommendation, however, and here is a recent video echoing it; i.e. the recommendation is based on current data
