it’s disheartening to learn that creators who chose not to “play the game” and beg for people to click the notification bell are ultimately being punished.

It provides more options! Someone might want to see all videos in their subs feed, but not get notified about every upload from every single subscription (especially if they have A LOT). The bell gives channel-level options: receive none, occasional, or all notifications.

the bell feature’s functionality is confusing or unknown by most. the feature is essentially replacing the functionality of the subscribe feature, which has been understood for over a decade. now creators are bearing the burden of communicating the bell feature to their audiences

creators are now forced to detract from their own content to communicate a new, confusing feature in order have their active and engaged audience notified of new content they’ve already subscribed to see.

would youtube ever consider having transparency with showing creators how many of their subscribers are seeing their videos and choosing not to watch, as opposed to never being notified at all due to youtube’s new functionality?
