I'm sure can do this - the other one I've heard is developing personalised training regimes for athletes. At the moments teams and squads often do the exact same training routines. Like healthcare, we know that more personalised approach will deliver better results

A6: It can be hard to explain what a data analytics company does, but not when you bring it on to sport and say it can be used to improve performance. Then it's easy to translate to business where you're in competition with everyone else, just like athletes are

And what would really appeal to fans is when fraud detection becomes so good that authorities can intervene quicker than they otherwise could to bar a cheating athlete before they even step up to the start line

Yes, and the more data you collect the easier it is to spot anomalies that would indicate drug use - as with everything, the more powerful the analytics and the bigger the (relevant) data set, the better

A4: As a fan I know there are certain players I like much more than others in the team I support (the mighty ) - so more personalised content that relates to that particular player (Jack Grealish) would go down well!

Yes, and then they can also tell you where's the shortest queue at the moment you're looking for that half-time beer, or where the quickest route to exit the stadium is at half-time

This is a good point though. Many fans love the "unpredictability" of sport and put this down to lots of unknown factors. Will too much data analysis remove some of this uncertainly and make it more of a competition between data scientists/technology?

Yes, it's lots of small marginal gains that can make a big difference to end result where not much between the teams - i.e. could be the difference between narrow win and narrow defeat

A2: One of the most interesting things is so much sporting performance is attributed to how the athlete's mind is. British Rowers said they feel "more confident" on start line knowing they have power of supporting their preparation
