If you're a self-described liberal who wants Liz Cheney to run for president, you are loudly telling on yourself about how little you actually care about reproductive rights, economic justice and climate change.

And if she runs as an independent, she will suck the Democratic votes enough to give Trump victory.

What if I say I would rather her be the Republican nominee than Trump or any of the other Republicans that have shown hostility to democracy, the rule of law & the Constitution? Would rather have opposition that is faithful to those basic principles.

It would show how little you understand the sheer devastation being unleashed on humanity and how little time we have to salvage it.

And don't forget torture, she supports torture.
Sorry to go on and on about it, but that few seem to know about her support of it is a concern.

As Democrats we should all want her to form a 3rd party that draws votes away from republicans in state and federal elections. It would be a huge gift to democrats, especially in places where we could never run and win (currently)

I am so tired of people calling her a “hero.” D’s bar is so low for Rs - don’t be wrong on one thing and you can be VP!
Supporting democracy is the bare minimum. And I’m pretty sure she’d be fine with a coup with a legal-ish veneer, like the one they pulled off in Bush v. Gore.

Are you really though? Would she be any worse on any of those issues than what we have now?

I’ve known for a while they’re largely not arsed by climate or the wealth gap but I’m surprised just how flexible they’ve become about reproductive rights. I didn’t see that one coming.

The fact that she's currently one of the better Republicans in Congress doesn't mean she's actually that good. It's just an indicator of how bad the other Republicans are now.
