This is a big deal. But the working conditions are terrible.

-
Precisely why unions are needed in the workplace.
-
Or/and some better legislation governing workplace conditions.
-
Yes but the goal should be empowering workers to organize and agitate. Power concedes nothing without a demand...
-
Corporations have "PACS" now that organize workers, but only for THEIR agendas which basically does nothing for worker's rights, their wages, nor their working conditions. Unions are the answer, people!
-
Absolutely agree. The American middle class thrived at the height of union involvement. Wages plummeted and working conditions deteriorated as right to work laws were enacted in Republican controlled states. Conservative SCOTUS drove the final nail.

It's almost like when you fight for what's right you can win. Which things like this make the "no, $12 is better" folk look even sillier than they did.

It’s still $7.00 minimum below a living wage It’s like winning miss congeniality at a beauty pageant.
-
In California that's true, but in many places where Amazon has warehouses $15 is a livable wage. Next step is for Amazon workers to organize and unionize. We need to celebrate every victory along the path, not minimize the impact.

I think there was a study a couple years ago Bernie was floating to show that’s $22/hr was the minimum one would need to live in all states.
-
$15 is doable. Wont be able to get a house but can live off of. Household with 2 $15 hr pay is 62k gross 48kish net. You could get a house with that household income.
-
Well how lovely if you’re not a single parent w mortgage, car, insurances, food, heat, elec, water, WiFi for students, child care. It’s not doable. Just bc it is for some, doesn’t mean it is for many.
-
I mentioned you wont have a house. $15 hr is a pay increase for many and able to cover living in many states and cities. Not NYC, L.A, or San Fran. Single parents have it extremely hard and this won't cover everything. You're right
-
And just for clarification. If you can’t have a house, then how is it doable?
-
People rent. Owning a house is not a right and not a qualification of livable wage.

Remember when Hillary held back from supporting $15?
-
of course! And also famously said: "single payer will never, ever happen" sometimes I think progressives are the only liberals left with memory
