People are dead because Chesa won't prosecute felony motor theft. Can you please explain how this is a critical part of making the justice system more fair? I'm truly open to changing my opinion and am genuinely asking. Can provide sources for above claim if you're not familiar

Millions have had their lives destroyed by a criminal justice system designed to put as many black and brown ppl in cages as possible. We’re you upset about the lives that unjustly ruined?

Without a doubt, emphatically, yes. Enraged. I speak out on many issues. I spend time marching in the streets. Many laws (example weed) are unjustly enforced, putting a far disproportionate amount of people from low-income/black communities in prison. I'm angry about this TOO

Again, earnestly, please help me understand how Chesa's steps are for the good of the community. But if not, feel free to attack me if it'll make you feel good.

So... many laws are enforced unequally, and how people are charged is a part of that, but yr mad about a DA pushing for sentencing options that aren’t jail or prison? And you want to follow a bunch of far right wingers in politicizing every crime and tragedy in SF?

Thank you for the thoughtful response. I'm all for pushing for sentencing options that aren’t jail or prison. Unfortunately, for example, failing to charge someone who has committed ten separate counts of felony vehicle theft isn't positive reform. It's not progress.

Sure! but tbh it sound like a complicated situation when you get the whole story and not the sound bite:https://missionlocal.org/2021/01/the-strange-and-terrible-saga-of-a-parolee-and-a-fatal-hit-and-run/ …

Also a lot of the ppl who are politicizing these women’s deaths don’t actually care about them. It’s the POA who are mad he is charging cops. VC ppl who freaked out when he went after doordash for wage theft. Landlords who are worried about his promise to go after bad landlords.

We are living through a v hard time, lots of ppl are desperate and suffering rn, and it makes ppl feel like the city is out of control. Cynical ppl are preying on this to further there own nasty preexisting agendas.

It is a very hard time, and sadly, might not get easier soon.
I think it's good to remember that majority of each side wants the same thing - peace, prosperity and equity for ALL, but has very different contexts and methods.
Thanks for taking the time to explain a bit more
