      In my nearly 20 years of reporting in the North Country, I have seen nearly every county – Democrat or Republican-led – raise some kind of fee, or increase the bed tax. Those things are in fact “common for local gov leaders”, as Brian writes.

      The bed tax and fee increases (the 7x taxes you refer to) we reported on the above story are not "uncommon".
