It’s weird how all of @chesaboudin’s haters act like there was 0 crime in San Francisco before he took office.

SFPD files crime reports, not the DA's office. So if crime being down (which would follow a years-long trend) is all due to manipulating the stats, it's because SFPD officers stopped doing their jobs

Well factually speaking you don’t live here and have to deal with the menace of constant break-ins, mugging, smash and grabs. Everyone carries mace on their keychains and a large number of people have now purchased guns to protect themselves in their homes.
-
Amazing that its the fault of Chesa rather than the police that solve less than 10% of those. It’s just all so lazy. Blame the reformer for something he didn’t cause. It’s basically Trumpism as applied to public safety.

Specifically larceny (the biggest chunk of crime in SF pre-COVID) is down. Burglary is up 49% and SF is the only major city in California with a surge in burglaries; everywhere else they are way down due to COVID. Just across the bridge in Oakland they’re down 43%.
-
According to data that my office will NEVER share with the public, burglary is down in Oakland because the burglars in Oakland figured out they should cross the bridge to commit burglary since they know I’ll only give them gift cards if they get caught. Allegedly.
