    One of the strangest parts about the Texas suit is that it originates in Texas. If there's any state GOP that ought to intuit that the election result is entirely sound, it's probably the Texas GOP

    If you go back & read/listen to Michael Lewis’s book, “The Fifth Risk,” these Cabinet choices make a lot of sense. The absolute devastation of the federal govt - even as early as a year or two in, & which is certainly much worse since then - is a crisis in its own right.

    Darkly fascinated to see where this "only state legislatures, not any political entities created by them, can change election rules" thing goes. Wouldn't be surprised, for example, by a lawsuit arguing that Michigan's voter-passed election reforms have to be struck down.

    So are all of these states open to being sued directly in the Supreme Court for all of their acts of voter disenfranchisement? I could imagine some very creative suits.

    The idea that you need to keep filing lawsuits to provide "certainty" is a little specious. Trump accused Ted Cruz's dad of killing JFK; I doubt Cruz thinks it would settle the issue if Trump appointed a special counsel to highlight and investigate him.

    The real reason mainstream GOP politicians endorse Trump's attacks on democracy. Heads they overturn an election, tails they have an excuse to make it harder to vote. Ultimately it will be up to voters and courts to break this cycle.

    Georgia State Senate Republicans say they will work during the legislative session to eliminate at-will absentee voting, to require photo ID for absentee voting for cause and to outlaw drop boxes in order to crack down on ballot harvesting.

    An important point from Matt. Without context the story leaves readers inclined to conclude "Washington can't get things done," when what's really happening is "Republicans have given up on democracy."

    Journalists are unable to frame what’s happening outside of their inclination to treat everything as a process story The headline is not “Committee Fails To Pass Inaugural Resolution” It’s “Republican Leaders Back Trump Effort To Overthrow Incoming Administration”
