A small biz owner told me she received PPP but can't seem to get herself to call her employees back to work bc they're receiving more in unemployment benefits. So, she's going to return the PPP (bc 75% has to be used on payroll) & mark a loss for her business & go into debt.

She considered this before but didn't want to then lay the new hires off to get the old hires back or vice versa bc of the disruptions to their households, plus other reasons. And now she's already in the last couple wks of her 8 wk period.
As long as she documents her effort to rehire the employee and reports it to unemployment insurance within 30 days she can still have that portion of the loan forgiven. Sec.5a home.treasury.gov/system/files/1
