One unsurprising thing I learned in AP Enviro Sci the year is that Empowerment of women and giving them the education they deserve is the single simplest/quickest way to improve the quality of life and life expectancy in a country.

Remember that around 50 women die every month as a result of their S.O. having a firearm in a domestic violence situation.

This has always been true. That why there needs to be a national waiting period. Not every state has one. Saving the life of even one woman from her abuser, is worth the 48 hours or more for a waiting/cooling off period.
