Could we stop burning sugar cane? The smoke causes a ton of health problems in local communities. Instead we could do what many other countries do, cut leaves and stocks to make Biofuel. Sugar is an absolutely environmentally destructive crop to grow (from air pollutants to chemical runoff in the water to complete devastation of the land). State of Florida and the US should STOP dramatically subsidizing its production, as they do now. Rick Scott

Oregon has a lot of grass seed farms, acres of grass as far as the eye can see. Common practice used to be to burn the fields in the fall. Now the State says no. Florida could say no. It just takes political action.

Biochar can be made onsite and potentially sequester 1/2 the carbon.
