I thank my indigenous peers that brought my attention to Lincoln’s atrocities committed against native Americans. I’m deeply sorry for not acknowledging these crimes that I was unaware of until now. I will do better in the future.
You have to look at people on the context of their time. In the future you’ll probably be seen as a terrible person with horrible ideas. This revisionism is exactly what the Republicans think we all are. Lincoln was the greatest President. This wokeness battle will destroy us.

My family is NA and agree the Lincoln wasn’t the best to us when it came to policy. That said, he got a nation to comeback to get after a ghastly civil war. If not fir him, the USA wouldn’t exist on its present form. But you had to pander out of potic correctness.
My family is Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota. Those were my people who were hanged for all yt people to watch and cheer. During and after that they tortured and killed other Dakota women, elders and children. They would cut babies out of the womb. Why would I think lincoln was great?
