Another resource is the book, "The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power" by Jeff Sharlet. There is also a documentary on Netflix called simply "The Family" (may be posted to YouTube). The conservatives have been organizing for decades.

The problem is more Trump should be thought of as a chaos agent. He doesn't long-term plan. He's a classic narcissist. None of this has been planned beyond conservatives agreeing to support Trump no matter what in the interest of maintaining power and access to appoint SCOTUS.

Republicans have had a longterm goal of single party rule, stacking courts, etc. That's what I think he's referring to.

While the Democrats are spending all of their time, money and effort on Trump, they AREN'T working on any gun legislation, addressing the Electoral College or dealing with Immigration. Muller Failed and the Impeachment will fail.
