Useful to have a good person as a politician? No. It's IMPORTANT that our representatives be good people and NOT politicians. Politicians are never good people. They desire power and to force We The People to bend to their will.

Politicians should aspire to be Brave. Whatever choice they make they should be proud & confident to follow. If wrong they should be Brave enough to admit their error & announce their change of opinion. So I have a dream of a more perfect union for Political Bravery
