The republicans are not interested in protecting or preserving the Constitution. It was just something they liked to say when it felt good at the time. The republicans are only there to win at any cost, stay in power, and make sure nothing interrupts that.
Neither party is interested in that.
It’s not necessarily that the dishonourable Senator hasn’t read that clause, but that he is a #TrumpCultist who will defend ANYTHING that the #RacistInChief does, sadly probably even murder or surely disregarding the Constitution.
If the American president is concerned re corruption involving a political rival, why not request an investigation thru the appropriate govt agency rather than asking the foreign leader (or your civilian "attorney" or "bagman") to do it?
