The Second Amendment was ratified in 1791. The Declaration of Independence was ratified on July 4, 1776, enshrining the rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." That should at least symbolically make the right to life more important than the right to bear arms.

The 1st Commandment precedes the 2nd Amendment by a few thousand years & seems even more important.
