That is a terrible thing to do to these kids when that debt is not their burden but their parents or guardians. Just another way to widen the gap and marginalise kids that are already so disadvantaged.

Aren't field trips actual learning experiences and an extension of the classroom, therefore essential? If they are not and are actually just 'fun days' of no education value, why are you having them? lunch debt is not a reason to keep kids from experiencing valid experiences.

In my experience Field trips also cost money. Poor families & kids get left behind in so many ways.
