How about a state for the island territories and put DC into Maryland? Two more Senators, Pacific and Caribbean territory groups each get a House Rep and so does Maryland/DC?

Why should DC be part of MD? Our pop. is over 700k (more than WY & VT, nearly as populous as AK & ND) and we contribute more fed tax
$s than 22 states. Also, grouping caribbean & pacific islands w/ vastly different needs into a single state doesn’t sound great either. - 1 more reply

DC residents here. At this point I would petition that we join Greenland. Better healthcare and less drama

FWIW The territories pay very little in Federal taxes. Income tax is filed locally and retained by the local governments. Being unrepresented in Congress OR the Electoral College nevertheless sucks!

DC residents paid ton of taxes.

And a combined population greater than what is represented by 18 Senators in the US Congress.

If they were states they would have the same amount of senators as every other state: 2

Reminder:
#MoscowMitch being the only person who can bring a vote to the floor while bragging that he is creating his own legislative graveyard is taxation without representation for everyone who lives in American except the mere 213,753 people who voted for him. -
I've been waiting for a class action suit on this very thing. It's probably why the GOP wanted to do away with class action law suits.

About the same population as Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont & Rhode Island (8 US senators and 7 house members)
