The argument that it’s only based on merit is complete bullshit and is the same argument that’s been used for hundreds of years to oppress women with the same notion that the reason why there weren’t any in power was because none of them had the “merit” to be there.

We have a Congress that historically represents those with the most privilege, not the people they “represent” The only way we can fix this and create an actually representative Congress/government is for new and diverse constituents to run for office

At minimum giving people options to vote for candidates with similar life experiences to them. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: We need more diversity of experience in Congress. Often times many experiences are exclusive to women, people of color and poor ppl.

You have no idea how many times I’ve had male engineers insinuate I was only at my job because they had to make “quota”. This was after I had sat on console in Mission Control for many Shuttle launches No idea what the certification process for that was, just quota ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

David, you amaze me with your thinking. There’s a part of me wishing you would consider a political career. The greater part of me wishes for you to continue to be a voice crying out in the wilderness. Lots of prophetic voices started out young.
