The oil tankers were NOT AMERICAN so we should NOT be going to war. Kokuka Courageous, a Japanese ship, was carrying methanol from Saudi Arabia to Singapore, and the Front Altair, owned by Bermuda-based shipping firm Frontline Ltd. was traveling from the U.A.E. to Taiwan. NO WAR
