The key is identifying your triggers, learning how to cope when they hit, and understanding that even when you’re experiencing a flashback that you’re having a painful memory in a safe place. Treatment is key. And remember that you are not alone!! #PTSDAwarenessMonth

EMDR therapy is definitely working for me. Knowing I can safely deal with feelings associated with traumatic memories is a game changer when trying to navigate everyday life.

I didn’t witness my brothers suicide, I’m still dealing with the trauma of the loss. No I didn’t have to BE at the scene to have the force of grief shatter me. I can tell you every detail of where I was and what I was wearing when I got the news in 1989.

EMDR might help with certain kinds of trauma. The US needs a mental health safety net so people can get the help they need.

I have C-PTSD. You are exactly right. Every single time I think I’m alright I discover I’m not. I’m trying an EMDR therapist now and hope it makes a difference. I’m tired. I’m 49. I’m tired of dealing with issues created by others such a long time ago.

If that doesn’t work, try and Accelerated Resolution Therapist (ART) like EMDR but faster. I’m trained in both and I like ART better, and so do my client.

You are describing PTSD. I also was recently diagnosed & am undergoing treatment for this. EMDR therapy is working great, would recommend. Your friend & classmate, Sydney, gave me motivation & inspiration to rise up & raise awareness for PTSD. Much love & support to you all
