When my family moved to New York in the early 1970s, we had to go to the post office every January to register as “aliens”. I loved it. On my high school registration forms, under Place of Birth, I wrote “Neptune”. Thus began my up and down relationship with the Vice Principal.

Back in the olden days when TV programming ended at 2 a.m., just before sign off the stations would run announcements about the requirement that illegal aliens register. I always imagined Martians.

Using the term 'illegal alien' is NOT xenophobic. Take it from an actual living and breathing Hispanic. Don't stop using the term 'illegal alien. They are entering this country illegally.
