So you’re saying government mandated giving > individual acts of kindness ? People usually only turn to gofundme in extreme cases, and those who donate are happy to support the cause.
Americans shouldn’t need a GoFundMe to pay for basic human rights like affordable health-care or an education.

I saw an elderly man cry at Costco because he finally saved up enough money to buy hearing aids....it took him years! Something has to change.

I have a hearing disability and I'm saving up for hearing aids. I have great health insurance but hearing aids aren't covered. My vision insurance includes hearing aids and with my co pay, they are $3k. After daily living expenses, $3K isn't an option. One day!

Even if you're purely pragmatic, lifting up the less fortunate has economic benefits for everyone. If people don't have to go bankrupt to stay alive, that's more money their pockets, which equals more spending
