The fact so many people falsely claim Oliver north as a hero is a great example why we need to invest more in our history education.

You've been in high school more recently than I; do you even get up to studying the events of the 1980s? In the 90s, we certainly didn't. The curriculum ended somewhere after WWII and then we sped through the remaining decades on the last full day of class.

Graduated in 2015, basically skimmed past everything that happened after wwii. Few days on the cold war, few days on Nam, maybe a week on hippies and civil rights then we were done.

The GOP invited Oliver North as the keynote speaker in the same IN county (and my hometown) where teachers were shot with pellets during an active shooter training. It's no coincidence and a disgrace.
