My ex is controlling, vindictive and abusive. He owns guns, including an AR-15. He also has shared custody. Judges don't care about abuse, they have been misled by parental alienation and father's rights groups to believe parent's rights are more important than child safety.

I worked in community mental health for many years, in a variety of programs, and domestic violence was always the number one issue.

I usually agree with you but this one is bullshit. Guns are not causing DV. Men and women who can't control their tempers cause DV. I'd put money more women die from non-gun DV than with guns. Guns need regulation but shitty people are the root of DV.

No one is suggesting guns are causing domestic violence, but a gun in the hand of someone prone to domestic violence is a recipe for disaster. Do you really want to wait until someone is convicted to take away their gun? By then it’s usually too late.

Maybe they should have had guns. The equalizer between the powerful and the helpless.

Quite simply the introduction of a firearm to a home only increases the chance someone will be killed. Whether it is owned for self defense or otherwise. Source: http://www.vpc.org/studies/wmmw2017.pdf …
