Also putting a msd strong sticker on everything and acting like everything is fine while everyone is in pain yet no one is talking about it is not how we stop this.

I am almost 70 yrs old, while I’ve never been in a mass shooting, I’ve experienced trauma & loss, for many people the worst of it is the years following the event. You think if you get through the 1st yr you’re ok but it hits you you’re not, it’s crushing.
-
I will be 70 at the end of this year, and you, my friend, are correct! Those traumas and losses are things we learn to live with-and even things we learn from-but not ever things we simply “get over”. David, your wisdom far outweighs those who say otherwise .You continue to grow.

Do soldiers just get over being on the battlefield???? Not many. PTSD happens on the battlefield when......all the possible weapons in the modern era are available. SCHOOLS SHOULDNT BE LAID OUT LIKE A BATTLEFIELD. -Guns owners should want a new organization to represent them.
-
I am a gun owner. I do NOT belong to the NRA. I would become a member of an organization that supports background checks, psych evals, and banning of military weapons and bumpstock.

As a 9/11 survivor, I concur. It takes a long time and lots of layers must be managed. My heart aches for you all. I wish I could take away the pain. That sense of permanent disruption and the agony it causes lives inside. One cannot deny it, only manage it.

I was a firsthand witness in NYC.

Years ago when my sister died, someone said to me “You will never get over this”. Those were actually the kindest, most supportive words I heard at the time. You are right, David. And you and all the Parkland community deserve the truth and actions from our nation to stop this.
-
This! You never get over things like this--you learn to manage *around* them, and the sharp edges get softened & worn down over time. But the wound & it's scar remain there, just a bit less painful over time.

Dude. I am deeply sorry for what you have experienced. Also very sorry that you've lost two more of yours to PTSD suicides. I can't imagine how you channel your trauma into such strength. But I'm glad you do. We are here for you. You lead a good fight. And we need it.
-
ALL of this. We are here for you. And I admire your resilience and strength more than I can express. We need you to keep fighting. Praying for you and all your classmates. I am so sorry you all went through such horror.
