As a gun owner and enthusiast, I couldn’t agree more. Is it inconvenient, sure. But it isn’t unreasonable. If I need a drivers license for a car—a thing not purpose made to kill, I should at least have a background check and a 4 week waiting period.

Maybe an ownership tax and required liability insurance might be good. Y’know, like how I need valid car insurance to be able to drive? Rights come with responsibilities. The NRA is looking to shirk responsibility. Utterly unamerican

Government is force. Government can use anything and everything if it so chooses to deny gun applicants. Government doesn't have to abide by any law but what that man makes up. See Russia, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba...unless they don't teach history correctly anymore.

In fact, Australia introduced a bill for a strict regulation of guns because of a mass shooting. They haven't had one since, and funnily enough, they haven't had a military coup either. Context, man.

I gotta say, background checks as a requirement to exercise a constitutional right is not a good idea. A good idea is to repeal the 2nd Amendment and THEN pass common sense laws. I am not for ignoring the Constitution just because I disagree with a part of it.
