When we toured the country we saw that gun violence prevention isn’t a partisan issue. Because no one wants innocent lives lost. Case in point: 97% of Americans support for universal background checks. Apple pie? If 97% of Americans agree on something, then it shouldn't matter if your representative is a Republican or a Democrat – they should be fighting for #HR8, and we need to make sure they do.

TL;DR: Policy change > thoughts + prayers. Both Democrats and Republicans die from gun violence. Bullets don't discriminate and neither should our legislators. Let’s bring the people’s pressure to Congress and create the change this country needs to save lives.
You’ve literally never purchased one in your life! There already is background checks
Please educate yourself. This was easy to research. Background checks are not evenly applied to all gun purchases. Federal law still excludes private sales & unlicensed sellers, & many states still haven't filled that loophole. An estimated 22% of all gun sales don't have checks.
And a 30 day waiting period. Plus periodic re-licensing/certification and registration. Plus a written test on gun safety and a practical text on gun handling. Plus insurance. Analogous to what’s required to own and drive a car everywhere in the country.
And I forgot to add: a total ban on ALL military assault/automatic weapons.
