THREAD: Arming teachers does just about as much as thoughts and prayers to reduce gun violence. That does 2 things 1. Puts students in danger 2. Sells more guns, promoting the NRA’s deadly agenda.

*u. responding police officers will recognized the armed teacher as someone other than the assailants.* THIS. Police in Birmingham, AL recently shot and killed a black man who was trying to protect people in a crowded mall. Police didn't recognize him as a "good guy with a gun".

In my city, there have been several incidents of teachers fighting w/students over the past few years (sad but true). What happens if an armed teacher loses their temper? And I do wonder about the mental stability of someone who thinks they can teach & be armed at the same time.

If one wants to own guns then be qualified to do that. Look at Japanese system of scrutiny for example. Not all are qualified by default.

Two more: 1 If a shooter has an assault rifle & the teacher a handgun, guess who loses; 2) Even trained & well armed soldiers don't respond properly in their 1st firefight & engage the enemy. [This last 1 from personal experience.]
