THREAD: Arming teachers does just about as much as thoughts and prayers to reduce gun violence. That does 2 things 1. Puts students in danger 2. Sells more guns, promoting the NRA’s deadly agenda.

And all the "good guys with a gun" seem to be getting shot/killed lately... so maybe teachers wouldn't want to sign up for that.
I've made this comment time and time again. How are first responders (esp. police) supposed to figure out who is the bad guy with a gun and who is the good guy with a gun in a matter of seconds? So far, we've seen that they can't.
What will happen is this, children will still be murdered in their schools, then, somebody will say oh but the teachers need bigger guns. That's what we need to do. they would have survived with bigger guns.
Eventually kids will be sent to school with flak jackets & helmets.
Teachers do not want to be armed with guns. They want to be armed with resources like school psychologists who can intervene and help troubled students before they escalate to "school shooter" status and destroy lives.
I was a teacher, in a small, rural hunting town. A lot of my students were out at 5:30 AM during deer season. No gun problems within our school, but lockdown drills. Arming teachers is beyond the dumbest thing I have ever heard. It defies the notion of “stupid”.
