Not to troll but just an honest question I'm asking respectfully: Why is automatic voter registration necessary? It literally takes, like, 5 seconds to do. Is there a history of people being denied the right to register to vote at the DMV or something?

Not everyone has a license and yes, there is a history of people being disenfranchised from voting. Google what happened in the governor's race in Georgia this election with the voter roll purging in minority areas.

As a
I find this sentence nonsensical - What is the connection of fear + voting? Almost all Germans are automatically registered to vote. Some of those choose to vote far right. At the moment 80% don't. That's democracy. Voter suppression shouldn't be tolerated. -
The GOP knows that when people vote en masse, they lose big-time. So they do whatever they can to prevent that - gerrymandering, voter suppression, active intimidation. Expect ICE patrols by the booths next cycle.

Can you imagine if we'd attempt to pass a "Lose your 2nd Amendment Right if you don't have a registered gun for 3 years" law, registration which included training? Doing so would be on par with these Voter Disenfranchisement laws. No other rights but the 2nd say WELL-REGULATED.

Great take.

When boys are mandated to register for the military when turning 18..why aren’t they automatically registered to vote at that time?
-
Because they just might vote blue and that scares Republicans.
