Agree David. It seems to this old nurse that the @GOP is blatantly anti public health, or we would have good universal healthcare like other civilized nations. Also we would have publicly funded studies on gun violence/deaths.

My grandfather died of lung cancer in 1970. My mom died of lung cancer in 1988. My sister died of lung cancer in 2014. My brother is headed there too. Yet we pay tax dollars to tobacco farmers. Add those killed by drunks, killers, and guns. Public health is not a priority is it?

Assuming that is true (I doubt it), you miss a key fact: There is no Constitutionally guaranteed right to smoke a cigarette. People don't use smokes to protect their children either.

Good question Michelle. It’s actually what we’re NOT doing: we’re not properly identifying and/or treating mental health issues. Still too much of a stigma and not enough funds/resources to deal with it.
