Greg Abbott and Ted Cruz have been able to achieve this with the support of a racist (and religious) white rural power base. Gerrymandering keeps these people in control and dilutes the power of progressive Austin voters like myself. Trying to undo it, but it will take a while.

I live in the long, strippy-looking part of
#TX35. It's infuriating. I mean, I have a great congressman in@RepLloydDoggett, but only because TX Republicans packed *tons* of Democrats together in his district, so all the others could be Republican. -
